2. Krzysztof Glowacki vs. Patryk Tolkaczewski

Poland’s premiere MMA promotion KSW witnessed one of the most shocking knockouts not only of this year but of all time.

With over 50,000 people in attendance, KSW’s Colosseum 2 event in Warsaw saw Krzysztof Glowacki meet Tolkaczewski in a heavyweight matchup in the second fight of the night. After a minute and a half of trading strikes, Tolkaczewski found himself on top of Glowacki, peppering Tolkaczewski with ground and pound while in full mount.

In 9 out of 10 scenarios, this sequence would have ended in a TKO win for Tolkaczewski. But not on that night. Glowacki found one opening amid Tolkaczewski’s flurry of punches and seized it by landing an unexpected left hook from the bottom. Tolkaczewski had his lights shut out within a fraction of a second as his body went limp and fell on Glowacki.

The former boxing champion switched positions with an unconscious Tolkaczewski and attempted to go for a follow-up shot, but the referee was quick to step in.

Glowacki’s performance was as good as one can expect their MMA debut to go. Prior to this, the 36-year-old was a boxer holding a 32-4 record with 20 knockouts. He is a former two-time WBO cruiserweight champion with several top names on his resume, such as Steve Cunningham, Lawrence Okolie, and Oleksandr Usyk.

If his striking prowess and presence of mind were anything to go by, it looks like Krzysztof Glowacki has a bright future in the heavyweight division. A potential stint in the UFC could be a possibility as well.
