5. Wanderlei Silva gets Rampage again with a vicious series of knees
From Pride 28 – 2004
Wanderlei Silva and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson both fight in a chaotic style, and their fight at Pride 28 was nothing short of that.
These two beat on each other for two frames. These guys straight up don’t know how to take it light, and that’s why they are some of the most popular fighters in the history of the sport. However, in the third frame, Wanderlei started to take over.
Silva got in the clinch, battered Rampage with a series of knees until Rampage could no longer stand. Then, Silva viciously throws his unconscious body over the second rope of the Pride ring and walked away as Rampage’s body lay passed out over the edge of the ring.
Silva had previously earned a finish of Rampage back in 2003 in Pride FC as well, but to knock out a fighter as strong as Rampage is pretty impressive. Silva racked up an MMA career that included 35 victories with just 12 losses. 72% of those fights ended in knockouts. Silva never grabbed UFC gold, but was one of the best champions in Pride history.
Rampage would take the third fight between the two, but this is still one of the best rivalries in MMA history, and this knockout was a big reason why.
