17. BJ Penn embarrasses Caol Uno
From UFC 34 – High Voltage – 2001
BJ Penn let the world know why you do not play games in the octagon with “The Prodigy”.
For whatever reason, Caol Uno tries to throw a ridiculous flying knee at the then-future Hall-of-Future. Penn sidesteps Uno like nothing ever happened, then sprayed Uno with a series of crosses until Uno hits the canvas, then unleashes some uppercuts when Uno hits the canvas until the referee had to call the bout.
Penn was the first American to win the world Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu championship and may say that his jiu-jitsu is the best aspect of his game. However, it is truly underrated how good of a boxer Penn truly was. He was the true definition of a prodigy.
He has competed in the heavyweight, middleweight, welterweight, and light heavyweight divisions, and is one of the best to ever put on the gloves. Having said that, you don’t go flailing at Penn with an ill-advised flying knee. Poor move by Uno, who went on to have a 32-18 career in professional mixed martial arts.
It’s not the first time that Penn appears on this list.
