19. Junior Dos Santos sends Werdum’s brain into the sky

From UFC 90 – Silva vs. Cote – 2008

Junior Dos Santos is arguably the best boxer in professional MMA, and he proved why he was worthy to become the UFC’s heavyweight champion with this nasty uppercut on the chin of current UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum.

Werdum throws a lazy right hand at the beginning or this exchange. You just cannot throw lazy right hands against JDS. Werdum left his chin unprotected and JDS uncorks one of the nastiest uppercuts in UFC history on the three-time world jiu-jitsu champion Werdum.

JDS has fallen on some unlucky times in the heavyweight division. He has fought top contender and former champion Cain Velasquez twice, defeating him once. Velasquez has earned himself a rematch against the champion Werdum after falling to him at UFC 188 in June. If Werdum is able to defend his championship belt, it will likely set up an epic rematch with Junior Dos Santos.

However, if Werdum falls to Velasquez, it will be unlikely that JDS receives a fourth fight with Velasquez. Regardless, JDS still owns one of the best KOs in UFC history, and arguably the nastiest uppercut the heavyweight division has ever seen. Still, it’s hard to argue that this isn’t in his prime at 37-years old, which makes this knockout even more spectacular.
