3 of the best TUF coaches, 1 of the worst
Worst: Conor McGregor, TUF 22 and TUF 31
Now let's talk about the bad part. Not only was McGregor a great fighter at the height of his powers, but he was also one of the most entertaining athletes. He is, after all, the biggest star MMA has seen. The UFC rightfully saw dollar signs with The Notorious one, so it was only a matter of time before they signed him up for their reality show.
Unfortunately, his coaching ability was nowhere as good as his trash talk and left hand.
While his sessions look productive, McGregor's lack of engagement during the fights leads to his downfall. Come fight day, McGregor becomes more of a biassed color-commentator-- dressed to the nine's sitting far from the corner, yelling instead of coaching as he throws his sunglasses in frustration.
In Season 22, McGregor's team of European fighters was on their way to dominating the competition before Team Faber's Ryan Hall snatched the win from Artem Lobov in the finale.
It should be no surprise that his team is on the verge of getting swept by Team Chandler in the show's current season. McGregor is a different person from 2015, but his coaching style has not changed one bit. But hey, you can't blame the UFC for giving their biggest cash cow some screen time.
