UFC 283: Pros react to Brandon Moreno finishing rivalry with Deiveson Figueiredo
See how fellow fighters reacted to Brandon Moreno putting his rivalry with Deiveson Figueiredo to bed once and for all at UFC 283
The rivalry and undisputed UFC flyweight championship goes to Brandon Moreno.
In the UFC’s first-ever tetralogy (or quadrilogy) bout, Moreno, entering as interim champion, defeated Deiveson Figueiredo to re-capture the UFC flyweight title and finish the rivalry up 2-1-1.
The first two rounds of Figueiredo and Moreno’s fourth encounter were highly competitive. The first round saw Moreno seemingly land the more effective strikes, though Figueiredo threatened with a guillotine very early in the fight and with a leg lock near the end of the first round.
A closely-contested second round could have gone either way — though most had it for Moreno. The third round, however, saw Moreno clearly be a step ahead. Moreno landed a hard strike that caught Figueiredo on the eye. Though Figueiredo argued an eye poke, it was ultimately deemed a clean punch.
Moreno continued to work Figueiredo over in the third. Following the round, the doctor observed Figueiredo’s eye nearly shut and swollen and called the fight off, making Moreno a two-time champion and the Brazilian crowd super unhappy.

Figueiredo and Moreno first met at UFC 256 in December 2020, one month after the two were victorious in their UFC 255 fights. In what was one of the best fights of the flyweight division’s history — let alone in 2020 — Figueiredo retained via a majority draw.
The two met in a rematch at UFC 263 in June 2021, a fight that saw Moreno submit Figueiredo to capture the championship. Figueiredo regained the title and made the series 1-1-1 at UFC 270 one year ago, scoring a decision win in another closely contested bout.
Moreno earned the fourth fight with Figueiredo after defeating Kai Kara-France for the interim flyweight title at UFC 277 in late July.
