Who are the Bonfim brothers?
UFC 283 is headlined by a light heavyweight title bout between Glover Teixeira and Jamahal Hill, which will also feature the UFC debuts of Ismael and Gabriel Bonfim. While both men have had bouts on the The Contender Series, this will be their first time on an official UFC card.
Ismael Bonfim will make his debut during the early prelims as he takes on Terrance McKinney in a lightweight bout. His brother, Gabriel, will make his debut on the prelims as he takes on Mounir Lazzez in a welterweight bout.
UFC 283 marks the first big show of the year for the UFC. It also marks the return to Brazil for UFC for the first time in a long while. With strong showings by both of them, the Bonfim brothers could start to cement their names in the UFC with wins over their respective opponents.
UFC 283: Who is Ismael Bonfim?
Ismael will be coming into his fight with McKinney, with an overall record of 18-3-0. He started his professional MMA career back in 2011, losing two of his first three fights. Since then, Ismael has gone 17-1, picking up his latest win back in September of 2022, on the Contender Series over Nariman Abbasov, via unanimous decision. Ismael will be fighting out of Brazil as he looks to make his hometown crowd happy with a win.
UFC 283: Who is Gabriel Bonfim?
Gabriel, much like Ismael, fights out of Brazil. He will be entering his bout with Mounir Lazzez having yet to lose in an MMA fight, currently sitting at 13-0-0. Gabriel made his professional MMA debut back in December of 2014 with a submission win over Kleuve Santos. He has built up quite the resume as a submission specialist. Out of his 13 wins, nine have come from submission.
