MMA Twitter reacts to the first episode of Dana White’s Power Slap.
MMA Twitter wasn’t impressed with the first episode of Dana White’s Power Slap … even though most of them didn’t even watch it (allegedly).
On Wednesday night the debut episode of the slap-fighting competition Power Slap: Road to the Title aired, one week delayed thanks to its namesake slapping his wife on New Year’s Eve.
Prior to White slapping his wife fans were already critical of the show, claiming it was CTE guaranteed. But when the video surfaced of White slapping Anne, it was all but done for in the eyes of the fans and they didn’t hesitate to express themselves on social media.
Checking out the Slap fight league. This is the stupidest shit I’ve ever seen. The fact it’s associated with the UFC sets the sport back 10 yrs. All that being said it’s entertaining. Anyone wanna bet it’s not around in a year?

Anyone who would pay actual money to watch a slap fight PPV deserves neither money nor happiness. https://t.co/g0JuBoaSp4

It breaks my heart that the slop fighting is going to draw more eyeballs than #InvictaFC51.

not to restate the obvious but Dana White sitting on a couch chuckling about how hard a woman got slapped less than three weeks after publicly hitting his wife is a decision pic.twitter.com/ZDPs8tGrWl

Yes, I watch grown men wrestle, but this slap fighting shit is straight up stupid.

slap fighting should be banned

"slap fighting" is right up there with masked singer as "shows that look like shows made up for a dystopian future dream sequence in the 90s"

i do not see the appeal for slap fighting or think this captures anyone's attention for more than five minutes
— Bryan Rose (@br26) January 19, 2023
so naturally i expect like 5 million viewers tomorrow because after this month i've pretty much realized time has just passed me by
This Slap Fight league is better than 90% of pro wrestling, and it's literally just morons giving each other concussions.

Only time will tell if the show picks up and finds an audience in spite of the cards stacked against it.
