Israel Adesanya defends the middleweight title against Alex Pereira in the main event of UFC 281 on Saturday, Nov. 12.
UFC returns to Madison Square Garden for the first time since UFC 268 in 2021, where Kamaru Usman defeated Colby Covington via unanimous decision to retain the welterweight championship in the main event. This time, the main card will be headlined by another major title fight.
Israel Adesanya defends the championship he has held since 2019 against Alex Pereira. Ironically, Pereira returns to the venue in which he made his debut with the company back in 2021, where he knocked out Andreas Michaelidis with a flying knee.
The strawweight title will be defended at MSG once again, as champion Carla Esparza takes on Zhang Weili. Esparza won the title back at UFC 274 in May, defeating Rose Namajunas via split decision. Weili, meanwhile, knocked out Joanna Jedrzejczyk with a spinning backfist in her last fight at UFC 275 in June.
