UFC Vegas 63: Who is Carlos Mota?
Who is Carlos Mota?
On Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022, Carlos Mota will be making his UFC debut when he takes on Cody Durden at UFC Vegas 63. The show, which was supposed to feature Cody Durden taking on Kleydson Rodrigues, now has Carlos Mota stepping in to make his UFC debut when he takes on Durden. The UFC announced, Rodrigues has been removed from the Durden fight and replaced with Mota.
So, who exactly is Carlos “Tizil” Mota? Although he’s just making his UFC debut this week, Mota has been fighting for a long time and is proof that hard work does indeed pay off. Mota has been training his whole life for his debut inside a UFC octagon, and on very short notice he will get that chance on Saturday. He is also the current LFA flyweight champion.
Mota comes into this fight with eight professional MMA wins under his belt, and only one loss. He was born in Brazil and will be fighting out of Rio De Janeiro. He will be fighting inside of the flyweight division in the UFC and looks to continue his impressive run. His last two fights ended with him getting his hand raised after a first-round TKO in both. His last fight was on August 26, 2022, when he defeated Rizvan Abuev.
At UFC Vegas 63, Carlos Mota looks to make his UFC debut in a big way as he looks to defeat Cody Durden
On Saturday, Mota will be squaring off with Durden who is no slouch in his own right. Durden comes into this fight with a record of 13-4-1. He won his last fight via TKO when he knocked out JP Buys this past June. Durden fights out of the American Top Team gym in Atlanta and is currently unranked.
Mota is a good striker, picking up most of his wins with his fists or legs. However, he has been known to use a lethal rear-naked choke hold to submit his opponents. Mota will look to use his impressive offense as he hopes to pick up his first win inside a UFC octagon in his debut fight for the company.
