Tatsuro Taira is the fighter to watch at UFC Vegas 62

Undefeated 22-year-old flyweight prospect Tatsuro Taira is the fighter to watch at UFC Vegas 62.
Hailing from Okinawa, Japan, Tatsuro Taira (11-0) is an up-and-coming young flyweight prospect. After defeating Carlos Candelario in his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night: Błachowicz vs. Rakić, which upped his pro undefeated streak to 11 and his overall career pro/amateur record to 20-0, Taira will return to action at UFC Vegas 62.
At UFC Vegas 62, Taira will face San Antonio native C.J. Vergara (10-3) in the early prelims. Taira is a significant favorite at -250 over the 31-year-old Vergara, a Dana White’s Contender Series alumni with a UFC record of 1-1. Vergara’s first fight in the UFC was a unanimous decision loss to Ode Osbourne at UFC 268: Usman vs. Covington 2. His second fight was on May 7 at UFC 274: Oliveira vs. Gaethje, where he defeated Kleydson Rodrigues via split decision.
On Saturday, Taira will look to keep his undefeated record. Having previously fought for promotions, including Vale Tudo Japan and Shooto, Taira has earned finishes in most of his fights, including five submissions and three knockout victories.
Tatsuro Taira will likely look for submissions throughout the fight.
Taira, a grappling expert, will likely look to take advantage of Vergara’s weaker points. Vergara is a stand-up fighter, having never won by submission and having previously lost one of three by submission.
Other great matchups to keep an eye on for UFC Vegas 62 include Raphael Assunção vs. Victor Henry, Joanderson Brito vs. Lucas Alexander, and Askar Askarov vs. Brandon Royval. In addition, the main event features a top women’s flyweight battle between Alexa Grasso vs. Viviane Araujo, and the co-main features UFC veteran Cub Swanson’s first bout as a bantamweight against Jonathan Martinez.
