Former NFL player turned UFC fighter: Aaron Rodgers would fare better in MMA than Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes

Former NFL player turned UFC fighter Austen Lane weighed in on who would make the best MMA fighter: Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes?
As someone who has gone from the gauntlet of making an NFL roster to transitioning to an entirely new contact sport, Austen Lane is uniquely qualified to determine who would fare well in the Octagon.
Even though the NFL’s leading quarterbacks spend their offseasons working on their golf game, it may be time for one of them to consider UFC training.
When FanSided’s Amy Kaplan asked Lane who would make the best NFL-UFC transition between Aaron Rodgers, Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady, Lane offered a hilarious answer as to why he’s rolling with Rodgers.
“Aaron Rodgers is on that ayahuasca kick right now, so you know what I mean? When you do that ayahuasca stuff, it can kind of free your mind a little bit, open your mind to different things. You talk about jujitsu and flowing…”
Lane further elaborated on why he was picking Rodgers over Mahomes when it came to potential UFC prowess.
“Patrick Mahomes, I feel like his brother would be a distraction, but I guess it’s kind of like the whole ‘Full Send’ guys, I mean, he’d fit right in,” Lane said.
“But I’m a Wisconsin dude through and through,” he continued. “Go ahead and give me Aaron Rodgers. Go ahead and give me ayahuasca trips. Go ahead and give me the opening his mind and everything like that, and let’s see what he can do in the cage.”
Austen Lane believes ayahuasca would give Aaron Rodgers superpowers as a UFC fighter
Lane seems to have taken Aaron Rodgers at his word, as the longtime Packers quarterback has also spoken about how ayahuasca improved his game and allowed him to win back-to-back MVP awards.
"“I don’t think it’s a coincidence. I really don’t. I don’t really believe in coincidences at this point. It’s the universe bringing things to happen when they’re supposed to happen. There’s signs and synchronicities all around us at all times if we’re awake enough to see them and to take them in and to listen to our intuition when it’s speaking to us or pounding us in the head saying, ‘Hey dummy, this is what you’re supposed to be doing.'”"
While Lane and Rodgers — and Allen Lazard, apparently — believe that ayahuasca is the key, there are two other legendary quarterbacks in the mix who could make that UFC transition.
Mahomes is a possibility, but Brady? Lane thinks he has enough as it is, so there’s no need to try to take over the UFC world.
“I mean, does [Brady] have to do it?” Lane said. “What more do you want, Tom? How many Super Bowls you got? You’re married to a former Victoria’s Secret model…He doesn’t need to come dominate another sport. Just do your thing in Tampa Bay, go out on a high note, and we’ll see you later.”
