By Alec Arritola
At UFC Vegas 60, Daniel Zellhuber will make his UFC debut.
After a unanimous decision victory on Dana White’s Contender Series 2021, Daniel Zellhuber will finally make his official UFC debut at UFC Vegas 60. Fighting out of Mexico, Zellhuber is 12-0 as a professional mixed martial artist, with seven wins coming by knockout.
Prior to his DWCS win, 23-year-old Zellhuber had appeared in promotions like Lux Fight League, Combate Americas, and Jorge Masvidal‘s iKON Fighting Championship. The 6’1 Muay Thai specialist is currently ranked as Tapology‘s No. 3 Mexican lightweight.
At UFC Vegas 60, Zellhuber faces an older and more experienced opponent in Trey Ogden (15-5). Despite “Samurai Ghost” Ogden’s previous UFC experience, Zellhuber is coming in as a -230 favorite. In his previous fight, the 32-year-old Ogden lost to Jordan Leavitt by split decision in his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night: Luque vs. Muhammad 2.
Lightweight Daniel Zellhuber is a considerable favorite in his Octagon debut against Trey Ogden
Zellhuber will face a unique challenge in the submission artist Ogden. 11 of Ogden’s 15 wins have come by submission, while Zellhuber has only two career wins by submission. Regardless, oddsmakers see the undefeated Zellhuber as the more likely victor, winning by either knockout or decision.
Dana White’s Contender Series fans should look forward to this matchup as another young fighter enters the lightweight fray. Zellhuber will look to capitalize on his slight 2-inch height advantage, as well as his massive 6-inch reach advantage.
Aside from Zellhuber vs. Ogden, another lightweight matchup to keep an eye on at UFC Vegas 60: Cory Sandhagen vs. Song Yadong is the opening bout of the prelims, Nikolas Motta vs. Cameron VanCamp.
