Daniel Rodriguez has heard real trash talk before.

Daniel Rodriguez (16-2) is very excited and not worried about what comes out of Kevin Holland‘s mouth in their upcoming 180-pound catchweight fight at UFC 279. A big matchup for two fighters looking to break into a loaded welterweight top 15. Rodriguez answered the question about Holland’s trash-talking directly at UFC 279 media day.

“He does a lot of trash-talking and s**t; I don’t think it’s going to affect me much. I grew up in Los Angeles,” he told media on Wednesday. “I went to the LA unified school district, juvenile hall, and the LA county jail. If you ain’t trash talking back, you’re getting roasted, bro, for real.”

Holland is known for trash-talking before and during his fights, but Rodriguez wants to fight.

“I’ve never really been the talking type; I’m more about that action,” he said.

Daniel Rodriguez isn’t worried about his hand ‘I’ve been throwing this thing like a hammer’

This will be the first fight for Rodriguez in just over a year due to a hand injury.

“No concern, I’ve been throwing this thing like a hammer the past couple of months,” said Rodriguez when asked if he had concerns about how his hand will hold up.

When asked about the main event, Rodriguez was excited.

“I hear this is Nate Diaz’s last fight in the UFC. I’m f*****g so hyped to be a part of it. I’m gonna try my hardest to steal all the fans. I’ll probably spark a joint in there; you never know,” he said. “He means a lot to  California and the culture amongst Mexican-Americans. The style man, smoking weed and his attitude, persona, and stuff.”

“He’s from NorCal, but I see myself as the Los Angeles version,” he said.
