Watch Cowboy Cerrone appear in the movie trailer for Project Legion.

Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone has landed a lead role in the movie Project Legion after retiring from MMA. Project Legion is a heart-pounding action/thriller being released in October. Cerrone will be playing a former Marine that has found himself in a terrifying predicament.

Unknown feral creatures with an appetite for humans have begun taking over the city. Cerrone finds himself trapped in his apartment while the creatures continue to threaten the human race. The question is, will he be able to survive and stop the invasion?

Whether you’re an MMA superfan or a movie lover, this Saban Films production is worth the watch. Project Legion can be seen in select theatres starting Oct. 7, with on-demand and digital options beginning on Oct. 11.

Donald Cerrone’s acting experience

Project Legion is not the first time Cerrone has appeared in a film. Cerrone has had minor roles in several films and TV shows but ultimately landed a lead role in Terror on the Prairie with Gina Carrano. Now that Cerrone has stepped away from fighting, this is just the start of his acting career.

Cerrone is joining several UFC superstars in the transition from fighting to acting. Carrano and Ronda Rousey are two that have found success in film. Other fighters such as Georges St. Pierre, Randy Couture, and Bas Rutten also appeared on the big screen. Meanwhile, Conor McGregor has recently announced he will be in a Road House remake with Jake Gyllenhaal while still being an active fighter.

Stepping away from fighting can be a scary experience, especially for fighters that don’t have money saved up. Luckily, acting has offered several UFC superstars an opportunity to support their families. Cerrone seems fully committed to acting, and Project Legion is the next step in his journey.
