UFC 278: Tyson Pedro defeated Harry Hunsucker.
Tyson Pedro defeated Harry Hunsucker via KO (strikes), Round 1 – 1:05 at UFC 278 on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022, live from the Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, UT.
“I feel like I trained so hard for this fight… To get it done like that is what it is all about,” said Pedro.
The fight started slowly as both cautiously felt out their opponent. Out of nowhere, Pedro caught Hunsucker with a left jab as Hunsucker was coming in. The jab hurt Hunsucker, allowing Pedro to follow up with a front kick to the body that dropped Hunsucker. Pedro landed several unanswered punches until the fight was stopped by referee Mike Beltran. Pedro celebrated in the calmest way possible, sitting in the middle of the Octagon until Beltran was ready to raise his hand.
After not competing in the UFC for four years, Pedro returned in April, knocking out Ike Villanueva in the first round of their fight. Following his second straight first-round knockout, Pedro looks like he can be a contender in his return.
Hunsucker lost his first two fights in the UFC, getting knocked out by Justin Tafa and Tai Tuivasa. After fighting at heavyweight, Hunsucker dropped down to light heavyweight. After getting knocked out in 65 seconds, Hunsucker’s time in the UFC could be over.
