UFC 275: Pros react to Jiri Prochazka winning light heavyweight title in classic with Glover Teixeira
See how fellow fighters reacted to Jiri Prochazka defeating Glover Teixeira in a highly entertaining fight that sees Prochazka win the UFC light heavyweight title
In what will surely go down as one of the most thrilling fights in UFC history, let alone light heavyweight history, Jiri Prochazka defeated Glover Teixeira in the main event of UFC 275 to capture the UFC light heavyweight championship.
Teixeira got off to a strong start by scoring a takedown of Prochazka before tearing him up on the feet. Prochazka, however, answered back in a big way in the second round, doing his own piecing up of Teixeira — though Teixeira arguably stole the round at the last minute with a takedown, choke attempt and ground-and-pound that busted open Prochazka.
Prochazka had another dominant performance in the third round, but a questionable choke attempt allowed Teixeira to at least end the round on top. Teixeira then took control of the fourth round and started off the fifth strong. Teixeira, however, questionably went for the choke twice on Prochazka when the former RIZIN champ seemed out on his feet in that final frame.
Teixeira did take Prochazka down, but in the fight’s final minute, Prochazka reversed and forced Teixeira to submit with 30 seconds left via a choke.

This marked Teixeira’s first defense of the title since winning it from Jan Blachowicz at UFC 267 in October. That title win made Teixeira the oldest fighter in UFC history to win his first UFC title. It also marked Teixeira’s sixth straight victory in the Octagon.
Prochazka, the former RIZIN light heavyweight champion, entered this bout with 12 straight wins. He made a highly successful UFC debut at UFC 251 over Volkan Oezdemir before a memorable spinning backfist elbow KO of Dominick Reyes at UFC Vegas 25 last year.
