UFC 264: Jennifer Maia defeated Jessica Eye, who suffered a nasty cut.
Jennifer Maia defeated Jessica Eye via unanimous decision (29–28, 29–28, 30–27), at UFC Vegas 264 on Saturday, July 10, 2021, live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
“Since I was the only fight to take her (Valentina Shevchenko) to five rounds, I think one more fight,” said Maia when asked how many more wins she will need to get a rematch with Shevchenko.
Despite losing the fight, Eye stole the attention after she suffered an ugly cut towards the end of the second round.

With less than a minute remaining in the second round, both Maia and Eye came in at the same, leading to an accidental clash of heads. The accidental headbutt left Eye with a significant cut on her forehead that immediately started spewing blood. At the end of the round, Eye’s corner did everything they could to stop the bleeding.
Twitter was disgusted at the Jessica Eye cut at UFC 264
Replay showed how long and deep the cut was. Despite the cut, Eye was able to continue fighting and last the final five minutes despite continuing to bleed heavily.
Maia entered Saturday’s fight as the fourth-ranked fighter in the women’s flyweight division. In her last fight, Maia was easily defeated by UFC flyweight champion Shevchenko at UFC 255.
Eye entered UFC 264 as the seventh-ranked UFC women’s flyweight fighter. However, Eye entered the fight on a two-fight winning streak and was in desperate need of a victory. After winning three straight fights in 2018, Eye earned a title but lost to Shevchenko via head kick knockout at UFC 238.
