On Friday, UFC star Jorge Masvidal will trade in the MMA gloves and dawn his promoter’s hat for Gamebred FC’s inaugural bare-knuckle MMA event.
In April, the UFC’s BMF champion, announced the formation of the first-ever bare-knuckle MMA promotion. Masvidal is hoping to capitalize on the somewhat surprising success of various bare-knuckle fighting organizations.
“If you guys are looking for something a little bit different, just imagine what they do without gloves,” Masvidal said when explaining his Gamebred FC concept (h/t Yahoo). “That’s kind of the idea. Better grappling. Better striking. We assume there’s going to be better finishes.”
Gamebred Fighting Champion’s first event will take place June 18 in Biloxi, Mississippi. The fight card is headlined by UFC and Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship veteran Jason Knight and Charles Bennett. The co-main event will see Brok Weaver take on Cliff Wright.
Gamebred Fighting Championship: What time is the fight on?
The fight card begins at 9 pm ET. In total there are seven fights on the card. You can expect the main event participants to make the walk to the cage around 10:30 pm ET. The official pay-per-view live stream for $19.99.
