Chris Weidman appeared to break his leg with the first kick he threw in his fight with Uriah Hall at UFC 261.
Weidman threw a kick right before one of Hall’s knees, with Weidman’s leg appearing to snap immediately. The fight ended at 17 seconds.
It was a similar injury that Anderson Silva suffered when facing Weidman in the main event of UFC 168.
The crowd could be heard collectively groaning in pain upon seeing the break. Color commentator Joe Rogan reported seeing some fans at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena crying.
Weidman had to be stretchered out of the arena.
This marks two straight fights at UFC 261 that ended in injury, with an ankle injury bringing an early end to Anthony Smith vs. Jimmy Crute.
Weidman and Hall first met in late 2010, with Weidman winning by a first-round finish.
Hall has now won four straight and five of his last six.
