Another week, another MMA fighter suffers a gruesome ear injury.

WARNING! This story contains graphic and potentially disturbing content. Proceed with caution.

When Kevin Ferguson (better known as Kimbo Slice) and James Thompson fought in May 2008, a bout which ended when Thompson’s ear practically exploded upon a punch from Ferguson, it was considered quite a bizarre ending. Yet it seems as of late ear injuries are happening more often in this crazy MMA world, and Lukasz Borowski is the latest victim.

Lukasz Borowski bout at FEN 31 ends in him suffering a horrific ear injury

Borowski met Paweł Trybała in a 220-pound catchweight main card fight as part of FEN 31 in Lodz, Poland.

During the fight, Borowski was hit in the ear. The end result was in ear that looked completely folded up, disfigured and grotesque. In fact, it seemed like a portion of his ear had gone missing.

The ear appeared to be caved in, with blood in the bottom half of the ear and around the area.

This is far from the first time we’ve seen a ghastly injury to an ear in an MMA fight over the past month. Ary Farias scored a win over Johnny Campbell at Taura MMA 10 last month when part of Campbell’s ear was detached. About two weeks later, at UFC Vegas 13, Max Griffin scored a win over Ramiz Brahimaj when Bbrahimaj’s ear was similarly hanging by a thread.

This marked Borowski’s first MMA bout since March 2018. He entered this contest with a 4-8 record and six losses in his last seven.

Trybala had a 6-3 record going into his fight with Borowski, having won all six of his victories via a finish and holding a three-fight win streak.
