Despite his history of trouble making 170 pounds, Darren Till took to social media to post a photo of him shedding sweat in a sauna ahead of UFC London.

While he’s been one of the UFC’s rising welterweight contenders over the past couple of years, and just had a title shot back at UFC 228, UFC London headliner Darren Till has had weight cutting issues.

But on March 11, Till, who faces Jorge Masvidal in the main event of UFC London on March 16, posted a photo on Instagram that showed him trying to drop weight while in a sauna, with sweat pouring out nearly every inch of his body.

Response to the picture has varied, from some concerned over his cutting, to many complimenting the shape Till looks to be in so far, and even some comparing his face in the cut to Georges St Pierre.

Till has missed weight twice in his UFC run. Till missed the welterweight limit by five pounds for his May 2017 bout with Jessin Ayari at May 2017, with the English fighter attributing the miss to having not fought in nearly 18 months. Till then missed weight by three-and-a-half pounds for his UFC Liverpool title eliminator with Stephen Thompson in May 2018, with him citing a late start due to family reasons.

Following UFC Liverpool, a shocking and dramatic video was released that showed Till suffering through his weight cut. The video was posted by Paddy Power, and Till seemed to use it to show he tried to make the weight, but the video was quickly taken down.

Till struggled to stand on his own and see well, and while those are common consequences that can occur in the weight cutting process, it did nothing to stop the ongoing debate surrounding fighters cutting extreme amounts of pounds in a short period of time.

After his title fight loss to Tyron Woodley in the main event of UFC 228, his first loss as a pro, Till announced intentions of moving up to middleweight. The move would have certainly meant an easier fight week process for Till, as he wouldn’t have to cut so much weight. But Till will remain at 170 and take on Masvidal later this week in the hopes of rebounding from the title fight loss and get back to another title shot.
