TUF 25 winner Jesse Taylor has been released by the UFC after serving his USDA suspension.
The winner of the The Ultimate Fighter 25, Jesse “JT Money” Taylor has been reportedly released by the UFC. Taylor was on the end of a one-year suspension handed down by USADA for testing positive for anti-estrogen agent clomiphene.
Taylor, 34, accepted a one-year suspension after being nabbed for an out-of-competition drug test conducted Aug. 22, 2017, that found the estrogen blocker in his system. Taylor contested the USADA finding and blamed it on a supplement given to him by a holistic doctor he visited.
The suspension came at the most inopportune time as Taylor got a chance to return to the UFC after bouncing around other organizations for several years. Before his comeback to the big show, Taylor was most known for being kicked off of The Ultimate Fighter 7 after he was shown kicking out a side window of a rented limousine.
Taylor returned to the UFC via TUF 25: Redemption. He subsequently beat three UFC vets moving to the finale where he submitted Dhiego Lima to win the tournament and secure a new contract.
Clomiphene is banned by the World Anti-Doping Code and the USADA. It is in a class of medications called ovulatory stimulants, used to treat infertility in women. However, the drug is considered to be used by male athletes as a way to cycle off steroids and promote testosterone production.
Clomiphene is the same drug that countless UFC and other athletes have been suspended for in the past, most notably Jon Jones and Brock Lesnar. However, a long list of athletes in and out of the UFC have tested positive for the drug. Such as UFC fighters Michal Oleksiejczuk, Nick Roehrick, George Sullivan, Brazilian Jui-Jitsu star Paulo Miyao and baseball players Edinson Vólquez and Jefry Rodriguez. received suspensions for clomiphene as well.
