Bellator 207: Corey Browning finishes fatigued Baby Slice

Corey Browning finishes Kevin “Baby Slice” Ferguson after the legacy fighter let his gas tank run dry.
Corey Browning defeated Kevin “Baby Slice” Ferguson Jr. via TKO (Round 2 – 2:08) at Bellator 207 on Friday, Oct. 12, live from Uncasville, CT.
“I feel like I’m full of heart now,” Browning said, his right eye nearly swollen shut. “I knew I had to win this one way or another.”

Bellator president Scott Coker pointed out that Browning was a 9-1 underdog going into the fight against Ferguson Jr.
ROUND 1
No touch of the gloves to start. Ferguson Jr. lands a looping right hand and immediately follows up with a takedown. A scramble ends up with Ferguson Jr. awkwardly applying a rear naked choke out of position. A lot of scrambling on the ground. Both fighters return to a standing position in the clinch. Ferguson Jr. lands another takedown. Back to their feet, clinching against the cage. Ferguson Jr. lands a thudding knee to his opponent’s head. Browning sprawls to stop a takedown and briefly controls top position. A lot of heavy grinding against the cage from Ferguson Jr. Back on the ground, Browning shoots up an armbar and omoplata attempt from his back, but neither is close. Ferguson Jr. passes the guard but gets swept by Browning. Browning takes the back. He can’t get his hooks in. Browning sneaks his way into a backside crucifix, but Ferguson Jr. presses him against the wall to take away some pressure. Browning has a cut over his eye. Browning is landing multiple elbows to Ferguson Jr.’s ear. One of those looked like a potential foul but the fight goes uninterrupted. The round ends with Browning smashing elbows from the backside crucifix and Ferguson Jr. covering up.
ROUND 2
Browning drops Ferguson Jr. with a big punch that drops the son of Kimbo Slice. Ferguson Jr. shakes it off, avoiding the ground and pound and scrambling to top position. Ferguson Jr. mounts Browning and immediately snatches an arm triangle. Ferguson Jr. drops to side control and squeezes the head-and-arm choke. Blood rushes out of Browning’s open cut, but he escapes the choke! Ferguson Jr. regains mount and drops some bombs on Browning. Ferguson Jr. attempts a rear-naked choke. He bails on the submission attempt and flails over to his back. Ferguson Jr. is completely out of energy. Browning scrambles on top and lands big punches until the referee is forced to call the fight off. TKO win for Browning.
Browning (3-1) made his successful Bellator debut after amassing a 2-1 record in the Valor Fights promotion. Ferguson Jr. (3-2) has only ever known the Bellator cage in his professional career. After losing his professional debut by submission, he rattled off three consecutive first-round finishes before falling short to Browning.
