3. Brian Stann

A former U.S. Marine, Brian Stann was a man who the fans loved thanks to his time-serving his country and performances inside the cage. He was a fighter who knew it was time to go but the memories he left us will never be forgotten.

Let’s get one thing straight, Stann loved to fight regardless of if he left with a win or not. The former WEC light heavyweight champion possessed super heavy hands and was not afraid to stand and trade with anyone.

Prior to his time in the UFC, Stann ran through his opposition on his way to a 6-1 record along with that WEC championship belt. The former Marine lost his UFC debut but would then start an impressive run that included him dropping down to middleweight where he carried over that 205-pound power.

Stann would go on a 4-3 run at 185-pounds that saw him destroy Chris Leben, Mike Massanzio, Jorge Santiago and Alessio Sakara. Brian dropped fights to Chael Sonnen, Michael Bisping and the man who made him realize it was time to stop fighting Wanderlei Silva.

Stann and Silva engaged in a bloody, violent affair in 2013. The two went back and forth but it was Silva who landed the harder more devastating shots. The fight came to an end late in the second round and with it, Stann’s fighting career was over. The “Axe Murderer” added another name to his legendary list of victims thanks to that right hand.
