7. Miesha Tate

Another pioneer of women’s MMA, Miesha Tate is a former UFC and Strikeforce champion is known in all corners of the globe.

From her heated and very well documented rivalry with Ronda Rousey to her career high point of winning a UFC title, “Cupcake” will go down in history as one of the greatest female fighters in combat sports history. At the tender age of 31, Miesha hung up her gloves at the perfect time.

During her illustrious career, she beat the best ladies in the world in both the UFC and Strikeforce. Holly Holm (UFC title win), Jessica Eye, Sara McMann, Liz Carmouche, Julie Kedzie and Marloes Coenen all tried and failed to get a win over the Seattle born fighter.

While some will argue with this decision as she was technically submitted, her loss to Amanda Nunes was a brutal one and the beginning to an end for her career. Miesha was beaten up on the feet and it led to a deep rear naked choke loss, a loss that cost her the UFC title and ultimately ended her career.

After the Nunes fight, she also lost to Raquel Pennington in what was officially her last Octagon appearance. She was outclassed throughout the fight and was lucky to make it to a judge’s decision.

Tate gave fans some very good memories and the MMA community will never forget her or her fights for a very long time.
