15. Royce Gracie
Royce Gracie revolutionized the sport of MMA. When the UFC first began, it was an open weight tournament, meaning men of any size and weight could compete against each other. Royce introduced Brazilian jiu-jitsu to the world and forever changed what the sport was all about. He is the pioneer for submissions and grappling in MMA.
14. Frankie Edgar
Frankie Edgar may very well be one of the best lightweights of all time. The way he dominated BJ Penn in those fights was something to behold and his trilogy with Gray Maynard was definitely one of the best in UFC history. Currently a featherweight, Edgar was a lightweight champion and he definitely has the potential to become the featherweight champion if he continues down the path he’s on.
13. Ronda Rousey
Ronda Rousey is the best women’s MMA fighter of all time. Her first eight wins were all via armbar, a technique she has practically mastered. The first UFC women’s bantamweight champion, she holds wins over Meisha Tate, Cat Zingano and Sara McMann. Although she recently lost for the first time to Holly Holm, Rousey has so much more time to improve and to regain her spot as the best in the world.
12. Randy Couture
A two-weight world champion (light heavyweight and heavyweight), Randy Couture was dominant in his prime. He’s beaten some of the best fighters of all time, including Chuck Liddell, Tito Ortiz and Vitor Belfort. His best win was when he went up a weight class to face Tim Sylvia and won the title.
11. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira
Big Nog has showcased one of the best chins in MMA history. He’s been in so many wars and his durability is truly what stands out in most of his fights. Having an outstanding submission game and underrated striking, he has wins over some of the best in the world. He captured UFC gold when he submitted Tim Sylvia at UFC 81. He also has notable wins over Randy Couture, Mirko Cro Cop and Mark Coleman.
